About Volta ao Algarve
Basking beneath the radiant skies of southern Portugal, the Volta ao Algarve has become a cornerstone of the early cycling season, attracting elite riders from around the globe. As the sole Portuguese entry on the UCI ProSeries calendar, it showcases the Algarve’s diverse landscapes through a picturesque and challenging route.
Each edition follows a familiar rhythm: a solo time trial, grueling climbs through the Serra de Monchique and Serra do Caldeirão, and fast-paced flat stages tailored for sprint specialists.

Itinerary
Our curated tour features a variety of fully guided rides tailored to every skill level, winding through the breathtaking scenery of Portugal’s Algarve region.
It’s an ideal fusion of exhilarating rides, front-row race excitement, and indulgent downtime—a long-standing favorite among our most refined cycling enthusiasts.
Daily stages
Between 40 and 130 km (3 different options per day). Each ride is expertly tailored to balance challenge and enjoyment amid the region’s stunning, undulating landscapes.
We will share a detailed “Itinerary Summary” as soon as the official Volta ao Algarve tour information is released.
Payment Terms for confirmation
To confirm your place on the Volta ao Algarve tour, a 50% progress payment is required once we provide the “Itinerary Summary”. An invoice for this initial payment will be sent via email. Please note that this deposit is non-refundable, as it secures arrangements with our suppliers through Thema Voyages.
The remaining balance is due no later than 90 days before your tour's departure date. A final payment invoice will be emailed to you in advance. If you prefer to pay in full earlier, simply contact us and we’ll issue the appropriate invoice.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend securing a travel insurance policy with comprehensive coverage—including protection for trip cancellations, medical expenses, and repatriation. Most importantly, your policy should explicitly cover cycling-related activities, including any risks and potential bike repairs.

Non-Cyclists
Non-cycling companions—whether spouses, family members, or friends—are warmly welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the beauty and charm of the tour while uncovering the hidden gems of the Algarve region.
From stunning beaches perfect for a leisurely stroll, to rejuvenating spa treatments inspired by the sea and mountains, the Algarve offers something for everyone. Explore local boutiques featuring cotton, linen, and the region’s finest cork products. Indulge in tastings of locally produced wines, sample the famous orange blossom honey and the unique medronho spirit, and savour the freshest seafood the coast has to offer.
Cancellation policy
More than 90 days before departure
50% of the tour price will be charged as a cancellation fee.
89 to 61 days before departure
75% of the tour price will be charged as a cancellation fee.
60 days or less before departure
100% of the tour price will be charged as a cancellation fee.
